The "friends of Suki Mann" are an informal group of mums that have been rallying round to help raise funds for Suki Mann to get corrective surgery only available in the USA. The local community of Wickham has united in helping this single mum get the funds needed to have the operation.
Edward Pagett age 8, Plans to walk 75 miles along Hadrian's wall with his family to raise funds for the Suki Mann appeal.
Edward Pagett, a very little 8 year old boy, has a great big ambitious idea to help his friends Mum Suki Mann! Although small in stature Edward has no limitations with his huge imagination, when faced with the problem of raising funds for Suki Mann's operation.
Suki Mann, a once active swimming instructor is now in pain and unable to walk more than a few steps without a wheel chair after her operation to put in a mesh implant for pelvic organ prolapse went wrong.
Edward soon realized that putting Suki's name on a tin and putting all his five pence's in wasn't going to make Suki well again anytime soon so undeterred by his parents comments of "That's very kind Edward but Suki would want you to spend your pocket money on you!" Edward has had another idea that his parents thought was great! This is how Edward explains in his own words,
"I first met Suki and her son Jakob at Charlie's house. Suki has had an operation that went badly wrong, leaving her almost unable to walk. She has to pay £30,000 for an operation to make her better. I feel sorry for Suki as I wouldn't want my legs not to work properly. I felt like I wanted to help Suki now! I did not want to wait 16 days or a Year. I felt like I just wanted to raise money, lots of it. I decided to do a sponsored walk. I am walking 75 miles along Hadrian's Wall with my family this summer. And I would be happy if you would sponsor me to help Suki."
Last year Edward and his family walked 50 miles in 6 days on the South Downs way with his family, his Amanda Pagett, dad Roy Pagett and brother Daniel Pagett. If you would like to sponsor Edward on his new challenge then please visithttp://www.gofundme.com/Injured-by-mesh and donate leaving ‘Edwards walk' in the comments.
