FDA Investigates Role of Recalled Blood Monitor in Xarelto Approval
Feb 24, 2016 | NewsInferno

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is evaluating whether the approval of Xarelto, a blood thinner manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, was impacted by the use of a recalled blood-testing device. The blood monitoring device was recalled in 2014 because it underestimated the risk of bleeding. -
Xarelto Lawsuit Attorneys at Bernstein Liebhard LLP Comment on New Concerns Surrounding Key Clinical Trial
Feb 24, 2016 | PRLeap
By Bernstein Liebhard LLP
Documents filed this week in a federal litigation that involves thousands of Xarelto lawsuits (http://www.rxinjuryhelp.com/xarelto/lawsuit/) indicate that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is questioning whether or not a potentially faulty testing device may have compromised results in a clinical trial that played a key role in the blood thinner's approval by the agency. According to The New York Times, the study was called ROCKET-AF, and compared the number of strokes and bleeding events among more than 14,000 patients treated with either Xarelto or a much older blood thinner called warfarin. Johnson & Johnson and Bayer recently disclosed that a device recalled in 2014 had been used to ensure warfarin patients enrolled in the study received the proper dose of the medication Any malfunctioning device could have skewered the results of ROCKET-AF in favor of Xarelto, as warfarin patients who received an improper dose would have been more likely to experience either a stroke or life-threatening internal bleeding. -

A Review Of The Latest Xarelto Bleeding Lawsuit Information Surrounding MDL No. 2592 In Louisiana
Feb 22, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the latest details concerning anticoagulant drug Xarelto and the mounting lawsuit numbers it has become the subject of. Xarelto was released to consumers for use after a 2011 approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. During its initial release, the new generation blood thinner was extremely popular. It did not require special diets and regular dosage adjustments or monitoring by physicians as other blood thinners had. Today, the drug is often used to prevent strokes for patients with atrial fibrillation condition, to treat pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, and to prevent blood clots among patients who are recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries.
Xarelto has become, however, the topic of many lawsuits and much controversy. Today, lawsuits surrounding the drug number over 3,000: 2,800 of these have been consolidated to form MDL No. 2592 in Louisiana by the U.S. Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation, while over 550 others have been consolidated by the Court of Common Pleas to form a mass tort litigation group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The FDA has since given Xarelto two black box warnings, which are the most strict warnings a product can receive before being completely recalled from the market. The warnings indicate an increased risk of blood clot formation among patients who suddenly stop using the drug without slowly weaning off of it and onto another anticoagulant. In other recent studies, patients switching from traditional blood thinners to Xarelto were shown to be at increased risk for stomach and eye bleeds, even when transitioning slowly and correctly.
Xarelto lawsuits have been filed against the drug’s manufacturers: Bayer AG andJanssen Pharmaceuticals. Janssen is a subdivision of well-known corporate giant Johnson & Johnson. Federally-filed lawsuits which have been consolidated in the Eastern District of Louisiana were filed by plaintiffs who all commonly allege that Xarelto puts those taking it at increased risk for serious and sudden bleeding events. They allege that the manufacturers used misleading marketing tactics to conceal these risks and force the public to focus on the positive aspects of the new drug.
The Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon, who is overseeing Xarelto cases involved in the MDL, has noted that four bellwether trials will be held in February of 2017 regarding the drug. Preparations for these bellwether trials took place in December of 2015 and January of 2016, and further trial preparations will be discussed in regular monthly status conferences. The next status conference will take place at the end of February, 2016.
As the cases get steadily closer to trial, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that those who feel they have been negatively affected by the drug will be given the important opportunity to explore their legal options in full. These patients may be entitled to substantial compensation to help with medical bills as well as pain and suffering. BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the details of another lawsuit which was filed against Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Phamaceuticals. Xarelto is a blood-thinning drug and a new-generation anticoagulant. The lawsuit was initially filed by a couple from Texas in the Eastern District of New York under case number 1:14-cv-04524. The plaintiffs allege that Bayer and Janssen neglected to adequately warn the public about the significant risks linked to Xarelto.
The plaintiff’s lawsuit indicates that she was prescribed Xarelto by a family doctor in order to treat her atrial fibrillation condition. Atrial fibrillation is a common heart condition which puts sufferers at a heightened risk for strokes, therefore, many patients with this condition are placed on blood thinners preventatively. The woman, in this case, notes that she had been using the anticoagulant for only 5 months before she spontaneously suffered from a life-threatening internal bleed which has left her with long-term medical care needs.
In 2011, Xarelto was given approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration. It was designed to treat patients recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries, who were at risk for blood clots or strokes. At first, the new-generation drug was very popular as it did not require the things that other blood thinners had: regular physician monitoring, dosage adjustments, and specific diets. The buzz over the drug, however, did not last long. In time, the public began to realize that it had many potentially dangerous side effects.
Today, the thousands of lawsuits which have been filed against Xarelto manufacturers all similarly allege that the blood thinner can cause dangerous uncontrollable bleeding. Federally-filed cases number over 2,800 while a mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania houses over 550 Xarelto lawsuit cases. The federal court cases have been consolidated by the United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to create MDL No. 2592 and are overseen by the Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is currently assisting anyone who feels they have been negatively affected by Xarelto. He is working to provide them with the opportunity to explore their full legal rights. Attorney Osborne is offering complimentary legal consultations to affected parties at this time.

Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs Note Several Studies Which Link Drug To Potential Excessive Bleeding
Feb 19, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on multiple studies which now help to support plaintiff arguments in progressing Xarelto lawsuits. The study results seem to show some unsettling connections between the use of blood-thinning drug Xarelto by patients and an increased risk of spontaneous bleeding episodes.
In 2011, Xarelto gained approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and was released to the public as a new-generation blood thinner. The anticoagulant was initially approved to treat patients who had recently undergone hip or knee replacement surgeries to prevent the potential development of blood clots during recovery, as well as for patients suffering from pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. Later, Xarelto’s approved uses were expanded to include treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation, a common heart condition which can cause an increased risk of stroke.
Since its initial launch, however, Xarelto has been the subject of reports of serious health problems. Today, the drug has been allegedly connected to the development of blood clots, and the occurrence of strokes, pulmonary embolisms, internal and external spontaneous bleeding episodes, and eye and stomach bleeds.
Doctors Judy H. Hun and John C. Hwang recently conducted several studies on Xarelto through their office, as they had commonly prescribed the blood thinner to patients and began to get concerned about what patients were reporting. The doctors indicated that three of their patients suddenly developed “spontaneous vitreous hemorrhage” (or eye bleeds) while using the drug. This is when they decided to look into things further. Results of their research found that the risk of these sudden eye bleeds was elevated for patients who had switched from taking a traditional blood thinner (such as warfarin) to taking Xarelto.
Another Xarelto study conducted between October 1st, 2010 and March 31st, 2012 evaluated the results of thousands of patients from across the U.S. who were using Xarelto, Pradaxa, and warfarin (all various brands of blood thinners). Data for this studywas collected from 46,000 patients: 39,607 who used warfarin, 4,907 who used Pradaxa, and 1,649 who used Xarelto. Results from the study showed “as much as a 50% increase in the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding with dabigatran compared with warfarin or a more than twofold higher risk of bleeding with rivaroxaban (Xarelto) when compared with warfarin.”
Xarelto lawsuit cases now number over 2,800 in MDL No. 2592. They are being overseen by Judge Eldon Fallon in New Orleans, Louisiana. As they await trial, the case numbers are expected to continue to grow. They are also joined by more than 550 cases which were consolidated to form a mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Court of Common Pleas. Plaintiffs involved in all Xarelto lawsuits have commonly linked the drug to serious and even fatal bleeding problems.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help anyone who took Xarelto and suffered from health complications that they attribute to the drug. He believes that these patients may be entitled to substantial compensation, and that everyone is entitled to the opportunity to fully explore their legal rights. Similarities To Pradaxa Lawsuits Encourage Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs As They Await Trial
Feb 23, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on substantial commonalities contained in Xarelto and Pradaxa lawsuits, which now help to encourage the plaintiffs involved in current Xarelto lawsuits as they look ahead to trial. Xarelto lawsuits continue to grow in number today, both in Louisiana and in Pennsylvania. Those complaints which were filed federally have been consolidated by the United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to create MDL No. 2592. These cases now include more than 2,800 complaints. Involved plaintiffs have indicated that in the month of August 2015 alone, the MDL grew by 400 cases. It is anticipated that current numbers will continue to increase.
The MDL cases are being overseen by Judge Eldon Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana, but they are also joined by another group of more than 550 cases which were consolidated by the Court of Common Pleas to form a mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All complaints name defendants Janssen Pharmaceuticals, (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation), and Bayer AG.
The MDL cases are steadily progressing toward litigation at this time. Judge Fallon required that by January 11, 2016, 40 bellwether cases be selected to form a bellwether pool from which 4 final cases will be chosen to be prepared for bellwether trials in Spring of 2017. The plaintiffs involved in the Xarelto lawsuits all similarly claim that the blood thinner can cause sudden uncontrollable bleeding episodes among patients taking it.
Pradaxa shares similarities with Xarelto in that it is also a new-generation blood thinner. The drug was released by manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim in 2010. As the public is seeing happen with Xarelto lawsuits today, shortly after Pradaxa’s market release, it was named in over 3,500 adverse event reports. Over 750 of these reports were fatalities, and therefore Pradaxa quickly became the topic of more than 4,000 lawsuits. One night before Pradaxa trials were scheduled to start, however, manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim settled all lawsuits by paying $650 million to plaintiffs. Many Xarelto plaintiffs are also hoping for talks of settlement, and looking to this example as a possibility for them as well.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is attempting to help ensure that anyone who has been negatively affected by Xarelto will have the opportunity to investigate their legal rights. At this time, he is offering free consultations to qualified parties. It is believed that these patients may be entitled to substantial compensation.

Louisiana Xarelto Bleeding Lawsuit Cases Grow In Number After JPML Consolidation
Feb 24, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the consolidation of federally-filed lawsuits concerning blood thinning drug Xarelto, and the continued growth of filed lawsuits since this consolidation. The cases were first consolidated on December 12th of 2015 by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. To make this consolidation possible, cases filed from across the nation were transferred to the Eastern District of Louisiana. These cases were able to be consolidated because they named the same defendants and shared similar allegations against these defendants. Today, they continue to grow in number as they await trial, and are being overseen by the Honorable U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Consolidation is performed to allow litigation to become ‘fast-tracked,’ helping things run more smoothly and efficiently. It generally avoids duplicative discovery, as well as conflicting rulings during pretrial by involving multiple judges. Consolidation is also usually considered convenient for those involved, as it conserves both time and legal expenses by speeding up the process.
As of today, Xarelto lawsuits in the MDL are said to number over 2,800. They are also joined by another consolidation of 550 similar cases which were formed into a mass tort group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Court of Common Pleas. Defendants named in Xarelto lawsuits are Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, (a subdivision of corporate giant Johnson & Johnson).
The initial MDL consolidation of federal cases came after a request from plaintiffs, which was submitted in October of 2015. This request asked for the centralization of the cases and originally requested that they be centralized in the Southern District of Illinois. This idea was met with contention by the defendants, however, who argued that cases should be transferred to New Jersey, because of the location of their companies. Despite these disagreements, plaintiffs and defendants knew that the final decision was in the hands of the JPML.
After a hearing session on December 4, 2015, the JPML made an announcement regarding their decision, stating: “In our judgement, the considerable growth in the litigation over the past few months demonstrates that informal coordination is not practical.” At this time, they also discussed their selection for overseeing judge, announcing, “Judge Eldon E. Fallon, who presides over three potential tag-along (Xarelto) actions, is an experienced transferee judge with the willingness and ability to manage this litigation efficiently. He is well-versed in multidistrict litigation, and we are confident he will steer this matter on a prudent course.”
Many involved in the Xarelto lawsuits expect that case numbers will only continue to increase as they await further trial preparations. In the meantime, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that others who have suffered health scares which they attribute to their use of anticoagulant Xarelto will also have the opportunity to explore their legal rights fully. At this time, he is offering complimentary legal consultations to those affected, who may be entitled to legal action and substantial compensation.

Plaintiff In Xarelto Lawsuit Claims Anticoagulant Caused Fatal Parenchymal Hemorrhage
Feb 24, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a lawsuit which was filed against Xarelto manufacturers Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subdivision of Johnson & Johnson) and Bayer AG regarding the blood thinner. The suit is just one of more than 2,800 cases which were filed in federal courts across the nation and later consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to form MDL No. 2592. The plaintiffs involved in the MDL all commonly allege that Xarelto can cause sudden uncontrollable bleeding episodes which can result in lasting injuries or even death.
The plaintiff involved in this particular suit is a daughter who is filing on behalf of her deceased father. Her case was initially filed under number 2:14-cv-00159-cr in a Vermont federal court. Details within court documents show that the woman’s father passed away suddenly after suffering aparenchymal hemorrhage (or brain bleed) which the family believes was caused by the anticoagulant he was taking at the time of his death. Because Xarelto works to thin a patient’s blood, doctors trying to save the man were unable to clot his blood, causing the bleed to become fatal.
Xarelto has quickly become the subject of more than 3,000 total lawsuits: over 2,800 consolidated in the Louisiana MDL and another 550 or more cases which have been formed into a mass tort group in Philadelphia by the Court of Common Pleas. The MDL cases have slowly been progressing toward trials, and recently went through bellwether trial selections. They await a monthly status conference to be held at the end of February, 2016. All cases are able to be consolidated due to the fact that they contain strikingly common allegations and have been filed against the same defendants. The consolidation process is expected to help fast track litigation, saving time and finances for everyone involved, and avoiding different rulings by more than one judge and duplicative discovery.
Today, attorney Joseph Osborne is working to assist anyone who has suffered from adverse health events after using Xarelto. He wishes to ensure that they will have the important ability to fully explore their legal rights. These patients and their families may be entitled to legal action and substantial compensation. In an effort to assist their pursuit of justice, Attorney Osborne is offering free consultations for anyone negatively affected by Xarelto at this time.

BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the progress of almost 3,000 Xarelto lawsuits which have been consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to form MDL No. 2592. The lawsuits were consolidated due to the fact that all plaintiffs similarly allege that the blood thinner can put patients at increased risk for dangerous uncontrollable bleeding episodes. All plaintiffs also name the same defendants: Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation). These lawsuits continue to steadily progress toward trial in the U.S District Court of Eastern Louisiana.
According to a court order from December 17th, 2015, the process of choosing 40 cases to a bellwether trial pool has been completed. The order given by presiding Judge Eldon Fallon required that plaintiffs and defendants each select 10 cases by Monday, January 11, 2016. The cases were to be from certain locations which were previously specified. Additionally, they were expected to meet certain outlined criteria, and to provide a broad variety of examples for future bellwether case selections. From this bellwether pool of 40, the Judge indicated that 4 cases would proceed to be heard in bellwether trials.
The Judge also indicated that by January 15, 2016, the court would have chosen an additional 20 lawsuits at random to join the 10 cases selected by the plaintiffs and the 10 cases selected by the defendants, in order to form this bellwether trial pool of 40. The 20 cases selected by the court were expected to include cases from Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as one from each of a total of eight other states which were chosen by those involved based on which states had the most Xarelto lawsuit filings, and which cases appeared to be most trial-ready.
Many of those involved in the lawsuits believe that others will continue to be filed as they progress toward 2017 bellwether trials. Attorney Joseph Osborne is currently offering free legal consultations to help anyone who has taken Xarelto and who has experienced adverse health effects to pursue justice. These patients may be entitled to substantial compensation.

BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on another lawsuit which has been filed against Xarelto manufacturers Bayer Healthcare and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subdivision of corporate giant Johnson & Johnson). The lawsuit was filed by a husband and wife from Ohio who claim that anticoagulant drug Xarelto caused the wife to suddenly suffer from serious and potentially life-threatening bleeding injuries. Together, the husband and wife team have filed a lawsuit and are requesting over $150,000 in compensation for their current mounting medical bills, and for future medical bills, as the wife’s injuries are expected to require long-term medical care.
Details found within lawsuit documents state that the wife was prescribed Xarelto (rivaroxaban) by her family doctor in order to treat her atrial fibrillation; a common heart condition which can put patients at increased risk for strokes. The blood thinner was used as a preventative measure to help the woman avoid strokes, however, the couple indicates that the wife ended up suffering a health problem that they consider to be equally as serious.
Only two short months after starting Xarelto, the wife began to suddenly suffer from a gastrointestinal bleed as well as anemia and multiple other injuries that were not detailed in court documents but the plaintiffs claim to be long-lasting health problems. Today, they say that the wife requires continued medical treatments and state that she is no longer able to enjoy life the way that she used to.
In 2011, Xarelto was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a new-generation blood thinner. It was approved to help reduce the risk of blood clots for patients recovering from knee and hip replacement surgeries, as well treatment for those with deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. Later, these approved uses expanded to include treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation. Despite much popularity after its initial launch, Xarelto quickly became the subject of almost 3,000 lawsuits filed nationwide, which similarly allege that the anticoagulant causes patients an increased risk of the development of sudden bleeding episodes, some of which are said to have proven fatal.
Xarelto lawsuits which were filed in federal courts from across the U.S. have been consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to form MDL No. 2592. They are now being overseen in the Eastern District of Louisiana by the Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon. This case, as well, is to be transferred there for pretrial proceedings. Many believe that as these cases await trial, they will continue to grow in number as more filings join them.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is currently working to assist patients who believe they have been negatively affected by Xarelto but who have not yet filed a lawsuit. These individuals could be entitled to significant compensation. To help support these individuals as they look to fully explore their legal options, Attorney Osborne is currently offering free legal consultations to qualifying individuals.

BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a recent New York Times article which discusses the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s investigation into whether a faulty, recalled blood-testing device could have affected the clinical trial results leading to Xarelto’s approval.
Xarelto is a new-generation blood-thinning drug which was approved by the FDA in 2011, and then released to the public market. Upon its initial release, Xarelto was incredibly popular, offering freedoms that previous traditional blood thinners had not, such as no requirements for regular check-ups and dosage adjustments with physicians. It did not take long, however, for the drug to be linked to sudden and dangerous bleeding episodes in patients from across the country.
Today, the anticoagulant is the subject of over 2,800 lawsuits filed in federal court and consolidated in Eastern Louisiana by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. The plaintiffs involved in these cases all share strikingly similar complaints about severe and even fatal bleeding injuries that they feel were caused by the blood thinner. The complaints were filed against Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturer of the drug.
Now, according to the New York Times, the FDA is asking Johnson & Johnson “detailed questions about whether there was evidence that the device was malfunctioning while the trial was underway, according to a legal brief filed in federal court on Monday by lawyers for patients and their families who say they were injured by the drug. The lawyers also cited internal company documents that they said showed doctors were complaining to the trial leadership during the course of the study.”
Questions over the accuracy of the clinical trial study have been brought up since last fall when both Johnson & Johnson and Bayer AG (who markets Xarelto overseas), reportedly “notified regulators that the device that was used in the trial had been recalled in 2014 because it was understating patients’ risk of bleeding.” The device in question is called an INRatio, and was used to help measure how many bleeding or stroke events were experienced by Xarelto patients as compared to those who were given traditional blood-thinning drug warfarin.
According to the latest NYTimes news, “Regulators are looking at whether the malfunctioning device might have led doctors to give patients the wrong dose of warfarin, which could have led to additional bleeding episodes and given an unfair advantage to Xarelto.”
As these important investigations continue, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to assist anyone who has suffered from health problems after using Xarelto. He hopes to better ensure that all affected individuals will have the critical ability to explore their legal rights in full. These patients may be entitled to significant compensation. In an effort to help potential victims seek deserved justice, Attorney Osborne is currently offering free Xarelto consultations.

BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation’s consolidation of all federal court Xarelto lawsuits. More than 2,800 cases filed by plaintiffs from across the nation are being overseen in the Eastern District of Louisiana by Judge Eldon Fallon, who has scheduled another monthly status meeting regarding the lawsuits at the end of February 2016. The consolidation occurred on December 12, 2015, and required atransfer of all Xarelto cases filed in federal courtrooms throughout the United States. Since the initial formation of the MDL, lawsuit numbers consolidated within it have continued to steadily increase in number.
Consolidation of such a large number of cases was able to occur because all involved plaintiffs noted very similar allegations against the same defendants: Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subdivision of Johnson & Johnson corporation). The purpose of consolidation is to fast track the litigation by reducing the likelihood of duplicative discovery and different rulings from more than one judge. It also helps those involved by conserving resources such as time and finances.
The plaintiffs initially requested this consolidation from the JPML in October of 2015. They requested that all similar lawsuits be centralized in the Southern District of Illinois, however, this request was met with contention by the defendants, who argued that the lawsuits should be instead be housed in New Jersey because of each of the corporation’s locations.
In this situation, the JPML was given the final say, and noted that they would be moving forward with the lawsuit consolidation. Following a hearing on December 4th of 2015, the JPML commented, “In our judgement, the considerable growth in the litigation over the past few months demonstrates that informal coordination is not practical.” They also announced at this time that it had been determined that the involved cases would be overseen by Judge Eldon Fallon, noting, “Judge Eldon E. Fallon, who presides over three potential tag-along (Xarelto) actions, is an experienced transferee judge with the willingness and ability to manage this litigation efficiently. He is well-versed in multidistrict litigation, and we are confident he will steer this matter on a prudent course.”
Xarelto cases involved in the Eastern Louisiana MDL are also joined by another consolidated group of over 550 cases in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These cases were formed into a mass tort litigation group by the Court of Common Pleas. Many involved in the litigation expect to see Xarelto lawsuit filings continue to grow as the cases steadily progress toward trial.
At this important time, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that anyone who has suffered from health problems while taking Xarelto will be given the opportunity to explore their legal rights in full. To encourage the pursuit of justice, he is now offering complimentary legal consultations to those who may have been affected. These individuals may be entitled to legal action and significant compensation.

Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs Claim Manufacturers Misleadingly Marketed Blood Thinning Drug
Feb 25, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a Xarelto lawsuit which has been filed against the manufacturers of the blood thinner: Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation) and Bayer Healthcare. The plaintiff filing this lawsuit claims that each of the manufacturers have fraudulently misrepresented the benefits and potential dangers of their new-generation anticoagulant through misleading marketing tactics. The complaint is a larger one, involving a total of 32 counts against the corporations, and was filed on October 13, 2015 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court under case number 15-L-581.
The lawsuit plaintiff also claims that Xarelto manufacturers failed to properly warn doctors of the possibly serious side effects that could be caused by their drug, specifically surrounding sudden bleeding episodes, which, at the time of the suit, were difficult to treat as the drug offered no antidote to patients using it for years. In court documentation, the plaintiff indicates that Xarelto was fraudulently marketed, with commercials that focused primarily on the drug’s benefits and failed to adequately discuss the dangers. In addition, many have noted the use of famous celebrities in Xarelto commercials, which commonly spotlight successful athletes of the past and present. The plaintiff is requesting damages exceeding $50,000, and financial coverage for any legal fees he might incur.
Xarelto lawsuits have been filed in large numbers from across the United States. Today, in federal court, there are over 2,800 Xarelto lawsuits which have been consolidated by the U.S. JPML to form MDL Number 2592. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well, another group of over 550 cases has been consolidated to form a mass tort group by the Court of Common Pleas. All of the Xarelto lawsuits filed in each grouping share strikingly common allegations against the same defendants, which claim that Xarelto use can put patients at increased risk for serious and sudden bleeding episodes. In addition, several studies have now linked the drug to increased risk of different types of bleeding episodes.
Cases involved in the MDL are being overseen by the Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon and are expected to continue to grow in number as they await further trial preparations. Bellwether trials for these cases are currently scheduled for early 2017. At this time, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that anyone who believes they were negatively affected by Xarelto will have the ability to explore their legal rights in full. He is offering free legal consultations to affected individuals. These patients may be entitled to significant compensation.

Notable Xarelto Lawsuit Claims Creates New Concern Regarding New-Generation Blood Thinner
Feb 26, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a markedly notable lawsuit filed against Xarelto manufacturers Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bayer AG in a Pennsylvania State Court. The lawsuit joins over 550 others from PA which have been consolidated by the Court of Common Pleas. Additionally, Xarelto is the subject of over 2,800 lawsuits consolidated to form MDL No. 2592 in Eastern Louisiana. This lawsuit, however, stands alone in its claims, making it important to observe. While thousands of Xarelto lawsuits have now been filed against the anticoagulant manufacturers regarding the sudden bleeding episodes associated with the drug, this one highlights a new concern: the once-daily dosage of the Xarelto, which is unlike any other blood thinner on the market today.
Most blood thinners available today require the user to ingest 2 pills daily to ensure that their body is properly medicated for a full 24-hours. Details found within this particular suit note Xarelto’s different recommended once-daily dosage, and allege that it is ineffective for an entire 24-hour period of time. The plaintiff claims to have supporting evidence of this problem, as he suddenly suffered a stroke just four days after starting to take Xarelto. He was using the drug specifically to prevent strokes, as he was deemed at increased risk for them to occur due to his atrial fibrillation.
Xarelto’s dosage has been brought into question, not only due to its one pill per day recommendation, but also because the pill itself is advertised as a one-size-fits-all dosage. No matter the weight or size of the patient taking the blood thinner, this dosing remains the same. After suffering a stroke, the plaintiff, in this case, filed a lawsuit on October 8, 2015. His lawsuit has garnered public attention and raised additional questions and safety concerns regarding Xarelto, which the plaintiff states not only neglected to prevent his stroke, but may have even caused it to occur.
Xarelto was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2011 to prevent strokes and blood clots for patients recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries and deep vein thrombosis. These approved uses were later expanded to include treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation; a fairly common heart condition. Since its initial approval, Xarelto was given two black box warnings by the FDA. These warnings are the most severe product warnings possible to issue before removing the drug from the market fully.
As those involved in Xarelto lawsuit cases await their day in court, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that anyone who has used Xarelto and suffered from side effects that they attribute to the drug will be provided with the opportunity to explore their legal rights in full. He is currently offering free consultations to those who have been affected. These individuals may be entitled to significant compensation.

Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs Will Hear Bellwether Trials Beginning In February Of 2017
Feb 26, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the dates released for the hearing of Xarelto lawsuit bellwether trials, which are currently scheduled to begin in February of 2017. The bellwether trials will consist of 4 cases chosen from the current MDL group of over 2,800. Cases in the MDL (MDL No. 2592) were consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to help streamline the legal process. They are being overseen by Judge Eldon Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Court documents have shown that the initial two bellwether trials will be held in the Eastern District of Louisiana as well, and will take place on February 6th and March 13th of 2017. The following two bellwether trials are currently scheduled to take place elsewhere on April 24th and May 30th of 2017.
Xarelto was once a very popular new-generation blood thinner, but it has now become the subject of a steadily growing number of lawsuits from across the country, filed by plaintiffs who commonly claim that the anticoagulant places users at increased risk for sudden and dangerous bleeding episodes. Plaintiffs and several studies have now linked the drug to gastrointestinal bleeding, blood clots, strokes, brain hemorrhages, and eye bleeds. In some cases, the bleeds have been fatal. Plaintiffs agree that Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson), failed to adequately warn consumers and physicians about the potential risks linked to the drug.
The upcoming Xarelto bellwether trials are expected to help provide plaintiffs, defendants, and council with a better idea of how juries might respond to certain testimony and pieces of evidence when presented throughout the trials of the remaining cases. Many involved expect that additional cases will continue to join the MDL before the 2017 bellwether trials begin. The more than 2,800 cases consolidated in the MDL are also joined by a mass tort group of over 550 Xarelto lawsuits formed by the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Attorney Joseph Osborne is currently working to help ensure that, in the meantime, anyone who has taken Xarelto and has suffered from health problems that they attribute to their use of the drug will have the opportunity to explore their legal rights in full. These individuals may be entitled to legal action and significant compensation. Attorney Osborne is currently offering free Xarelto consultations to involved individuals.

Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiff Alleges Blood-Thinning Drug Caused Life-Threatening Internal Bleed
Feb 26, 2016 | Bloodthinnerhelp.com
By Joseph Osborne
BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on another lawsuit filed against Xarelto manufacturers Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subdivision of Johnson & Johnson) and Bayer AG. The suit was initially filed in the Eastern District of New York, but has since been transferred with the formation of MDL No.2592 in Louisiana. It was filed by a Texas woman who claims that the defendants neglected to warn physicians and patients (including herself) about the possible dangerous side effects associated with their anticoagulant drug. In New York, her lawsuit was filed under case number 1:14-cv-04524.
Documents for this lawsuit show that the woman claims to have been prescribed Xarelto by her physician in order to prevent the occurrence of a stroke. She was at increased risk for this occurrence because of her atrial fibrillation condition. She also stated that she had only been using the blood thinner for 5 month’s time when she suffered from a sudden internal bleed which physicians termed life-threatening. Though she considers herself lucky to have survived this bleed, she claims that she will suffer with long-term medical needs because of it.
Xarelto received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2011 and successfully launched onto the market. It was a new-generation blood thinner, and one that suddenly required none of the physician monitoring, dietary restrictions, or dosage adjustments that other traditional blood thinners had. It became increasingly popular for these reasons. Xarelto was approved to treat patients recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries, or those with pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. The approved uses were later expanded to include treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation, as a preventative measure for strokes.
Today, Xarelto lawsuits continue to be filed from across the nation, and number over 3,000. The Eastern Louisiana MDL contains over 2,800 cases consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, while another group of more than 550 lawsuits have been consolidated to form a mass tort in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All plaintiffs share common allegations that the blood thinner puts users at increased risk for sudden dangerous bleeding episodes.
As the plaintiffs wait for these cases to progress, case numbers steadily increase. Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help ensure that anyone who feels that they have suffered health problems from using the blood thinner will have the opportunity to fully investigate their legal rights. Patients who used Xarelto and who suffered from health problems which they attribute to taking the drug may be entitled to significant compensation. To help those interested in pursuing justice, Attorney Osborne is currently offering free legal consultations for qualifying individuals.

Xarelto Side Effects Lawsuit: Blood Thinner Caused GI Bleed
Feb 23, 2016 | Top Class Actions
By Laura Schultz
A new blood thinner lawsuit was recently filed against the pharmaceutical manufacturers of Xarelto alleging that the plaintiffs suffered a dangerous gastrointestinal bleed.
According to the Xarelto lawsuit, the pharmaceutical manufacturer violated consumer protection laws and failed to warn the general pubic and the medical community about dangerous risks associated with taking the blood thinner.
The Xarelto lawsuit was filed by plaintiff Raymond A., and several other plaintiffs against Janssen Research & Development LLC, (a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson) and Bayer pharmaceuticals. The plaintiff Raymond is a resident of the state of New York.
According to the blood thinner lawsuit, Raymond began taking Xarelto in December 2012 after he was prescribed the anticoagulant by his doctor. Raymond continued taking the medication until April 2013. On April 26, 2013, Raymond suffered blood thinner side effects, which included a serious gastrointestinal bleed and acute blood loss anemia.
The Xarelto lawsuit alleges that Raymond’s injuries were the result of blood thinner side effects associated with his use of Xarelto. Raymond and the other plaintiffs associated with the lawsuit are seeking compensation for their pain and suffering, medical, hospital, and surgical expenses.
The blood thinning lawsuit alleges claims for strict products liability, fraud and misrepresentation, negligence, breach of warranty, along with several other claims.
What is Xarelto?
Xarelto is a popular blood thinning medication often prescribed by medical professionals to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients. Xarelto was introduced to the US market back in 2011.
It belongs to a new class of blood thinning medications referred to as new oral anticoagulants (NOACs). New oral anticoagulants are often marketed as superior replacements for more traditional blood thinners like warfarin.
Warfarin has been on the market for the last 60 years and has a known antidote for reversing blood thinner side effects such as uncontrolled bleeding and gastrointestinal bleeds. According to the blood thinner lawsuit, Xarelto has been marketed as a superior alternative to warfarin because it does not require blood monitoring and a strict diet.
Xarelto lawsuits claim that the studies that declared Xarelto superior to more traditional blood thinners were not only flawed in design but negligently performed. FDA inspections performed back in 2009 also found the research facility had committed rampant violations in their research procedures. Xarelto manufacturers used these studies to support their assertions that Xarelto was a superior medication.
Furthermore, according to the ROCKET AF study, patients suffered gastrointestinal bleeds more often than patients who used other variations of blood thinners. The FDA noted that data comparing Xarelto and warfarin was insufficient to claim that Xarelto was a superior blood thinner medication.
Product liability attorneys are currently looking for potential plaintiffs to bring Xarelto lawsuits against Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Successful plaintiffs may receive compensation for their injuries. These lawsuits also help to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for their actions and serve as a reminder that companies owe consumers a specific duty of care.
The Xarelto Blood Thinner Lawsuit is Case No. 2:2016-cv-00791 and is part of the Xarelto MDL 2592, in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Xarelto Lawsuit Filed After Woman Suffers Hemorrhagic Pericardial Effusion
Feb 23, 2016 | AboutLawsuits.com
By Austin Kirk
A recent lawsuit filed by a woman who alleges that side effects of Xarelto caused her to suffer a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion, where the sac around her heart filled with blood, is one of the latest in a growing number of product liability cases filed against Bayer and Johnson & Johnson over bleeding complications linked to their controversial anticoagulant.
The complaint (PDF) was filed by Margaret Garvy in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on February 18, where it will join an estimated 4,000 similar complaints filed throughout the federal court system.
Since December 2014, all Xarelto lawsuits filed in U.S. District Courts nationwide have been consolidated in the Eastern District of Louisiana as part of a federal MDL, or multidistrict litigation. Given the similar questions of fact and law raised in the claims, the litigation is centralized before U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon for coordinated discovery and pretrial proceedings.
Garvy indicates that she took the new-generation anticoagulant Xarelto for less than two weeks in May 2014, before she was diagnosed with hemorrhagic pericardial effusion, pericardial tamponade and plural effusion. The lawsuit indicates the conditions, which involve bleeding around the heart and lungs, were the result of her Xarelto use and the lack of an effective reversal agent to stop the drug’s blood thinning effects.
Like other claims pending in the federal court system, Garvy alleges that Bayer and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Pharmaceuticals subsidiary knew or should have known about the hemorrhage risks with Xarelto, yet withheld information from consumers and the medical community about the fact that users may experience uncontrollable bleeding.Xarelto Hemorrhage Risks
Xarelto (rivaroxoaban) was introduced in 2011 as a replacement for Coumadin (warfarin), which has been the go-to anticoagulant treatment for decades. The drug is part of a new-generation of blood thinners, which have been promoted as easier to use than warfarin, which has been the go-to anticoagulation treatment for decades. However, a large number of adverse event reports began to surface after the drug hit the market, often involving hemorrhaging that doctors were unable to stop.
While all blood thinners carry a risk of bleeding injury, the side effects of warfarin can be quickly reversed with a widely known antidote of bleeding occurs. However, there was no Xarelto reversal agent when the drug was introduced. Plaintiffs allege that the drug makers failed to adequately warn doctors about the lack of an antidote.
“Importantly, Xarelto’s significant risk of severe, and sometimes fatal, internal bleeding has no antidote to reverse its effects,” the lawsuit filed by Garvy states. “Therefore, in the event of hemorrhagic complications, there is no available reversal agent.”
Xarelto cases filed in U.S. District Courts nationwide have been centralized before Judge Fallon to reduce duplicative discovery into common issues, avoid contradictory pretrial rulings from different courts and to serve the convenience of the parties, witnesses and the judicial system.Xarelto Bellwether Trials
As part of the coordinated management of the Xarelto litigation, Judge Fallon has established a “bellwether” program, where a small group of cases are being prepared for early trial dates, which are designed to help the parties gauge how juries may respond to certain evidence and testimony that is likely to be repeated throughout many cases.
The parties involved in the Xarelto MDL are scheduled to meet with Judge Fallon today for a scheduled status conference, at which time the Court is expected to discuss the status of discovery in those bellwether claims, according to a joint report (PDF) filed last week.
The Xarelto bellwether trials are expected to go before federal juries between February 2017 and May 2017. If Xarelto injury settlements or another resolution for the litigation is not reached following the test trials, it is possible Judge Fallon will start remanding hundreds of individual cases back to U.S. District Courts nationwide for individual trial dates.
The litigation involves similar claims to those presented in thousands of lawsuits over Pradaxa, which is a similar medication that was the first member of this new generation of anticoagulants. Following several years of litigation, the manufacturer ultimately agreed to pay $650 million in Pradaxa settlements in 2014, with an average of about $150,000 per claim.
As Xarelto bleeding lawyers continue to review potential cases for individuals prescribed the anticoagulant throughout the United States, it is expected that this litigation will involve many more cases than the Pradaxa litigation, as the drug has was much more widely used.

FDA Investigates Role of Recalled Blood Monitor in Xarelto Approval
Feb 24, 2016 | NewsInferno
By Lillian Chiu
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is evaluating whether the approval of Xarelto, a blood thinner manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, was impacted by the use of a recalled blood-testing device. The New York Times reports that clinical trial Rocket AF, which fueled the approval of Xarelto, involved the use of the INRatio sold by Alere. The blood monitoring device was recalled in 2014 because it underestimated the risk of bleeding.
In the United States, Xarelto was approved in 2010 for the prevention of blood clots. When it first hit the market, it was touted as a superior version of warfarin, a blood thinner that has been on the market for decades. Patients taking warfarin face dietary restrictions and regular blood tests to make sure they are receiving appropriate doses. Xarelto does not have these limitations, but it has raised other concerns. Unlike warfarin, there is no antidote to reverse bleeding in Xarelto patients.
The Rocket AF trial involved more than 14,000 patients worldwide from 2006 to 2010. It was led by Dr. Robert M. Califf. President Obama has nominated Dr. Califf from head of the FDA. According to legal documents filed by plaintiffs in Xarelto litigation, the agency has probed J&J over whether it knew the INRatio was faulty during the trial. Attorneys also pointed to documents indicating doctors were dissatisfied with leadership during the trial.
The INRatio was used to determine whether patients were getting the appropriate dosage of warfarin during the trial, which compared strokes and bleeding events between Xarelto and warfarin users. Last fall, J&J told regulators that the device was recalled because understated the risk of bleeding, NYT reports. The FDA is now investigating whether the doctors administered the wrong dose of warfarin, leading to additional bleeding episodes, as a result of the faulty blood monitor; if so, it could mean that Xarelto had an unfair advantage in the clinical trial that led to its approval.
Two analyses published this month suggest the INRatio did not affect the outcome of the Xarelto trial. According to NYT however, these findings have drawn criticism themselves.
The New England Journal of Medicine published the findings of researchers with the Duke Clinical Research Institute, who oversaw the trial. However, this analysis failed to mention central laboratory tests that could have been used to determine whether the blood monitor readings were accurate. The analysis published by the European Medicines Agency did take these readings into account, but was conducted by the companies themselves. -

Johnson & Johnson and Bayer recently disclosed that a device recalled in 2014 had been used to ensure warfarin patients enrolled in the study received the proper dose of the medication
Any malfunctioning device could have skewered the results of ROCKET-AF in favor of Xarelto, as warfarin patients who received an improper dose would have been more likely to experience either a stroke or life-threatening internal bleeding.
While two recent analyses concluded that the faulty device did not impact the results of the study, the Times report indicated that those findings have not eased concerns in all quarters. Now a brief filed on behalf of Xarelto plaintiffs in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, has revealed that the FDA asked Johnson & Johnson last month whether there was evidence that the device was malfunctioning during the ROCKET-AF study, and what actions it took. The document also suggested that some doctors involved in the study had made complaints to trial leadership. (In Re: Xarelto Products Liability Litigation, No. 2592).
"Our Firm is representing a number of Xarelto lawsuit patients, and we have serious concerns regarding the questions raised about the ROCKET-AF study. We are pleased that the FDA is taking a hard look into the matter," says Sandy A. Liebhard, a partner at Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective medical devices and drugs. The Firm continues to evaluate potential Xarelto lawsuits on behalf of individuals who may have been harmed by this blood-thinning medication.
Xarelto Litigation
Xarelto was cleared by the FDA in 2011, and its approved uses currently include the prevention of strokes in atrial fibrillation patients; the treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism; and the prevention of deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing hip or knee implant surgery. Xarelto's label includes a black box warning that contains information about the increased risk of blood clot formation after premature discontinuation of the medication in the absence of adequate alternative anticoagulation.
Court records indicate that more than 3,900 Xarelto lawsuits have been filed in the multidistrict litigation now underway in the Eastern District of Louisiana. All of the cases similarly allege that the drug's manufacturers failed to provide adequate warnings regarding uncontrollable bleeding that may occur with its use, and wrongly promoted Xarelto as a superior alternative to warfarin. Plaintiffs note that bleeding associated warfarin can be reversed via the administration of vitamin K. However, there is currently no approved antidote to stop Xarelto bleeding events.Individuals who allegedly suffered life-threatening bleeding events while using Xarelto may be entitled to compensation for their related damages. Granddaughter Seeks $75,000 After Her Grandmother Dies From Xarelto Bleeding
Feb 24, 2016 | Jones War PLC
By Jones Ward
A Louisiana woman has filed a Xarelto lawsuit on behalf of her grandmother, who died from uncontrollable bleeding while taking the drug. If you think you’ve been injured by Xarelto, you could be entitled to compensation.
What happened?
Ashlie Fluitt’s grandmother, Hattie Deville-Goodwin, began taking Xarelto in September 2014 to treat her deep vein thrombosis (DVT). She took the drug exactly as directed by her doctor. Two months later, in November of that same year, Hattie was rushed to the hospital after developing an intracranial bleed. She had bleeding in and around her brain, exhibiting the same symptoms as a stroke. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to stop the bleed. Two days after being hospitalized, Hattie died due to the uncontrollable bleeding in her brain.
What caused the fatal bleed?
Why were doctors unable to stop the bleed that killed Hattie? Since Xarelto is a blood-thinner, even a small injury can lead to bleeding. However, unlike traditional blood-thinners, Xarelto has no antidote. Blood-thinners like Warfarin, for example, can be reversed with vitamin K. This means that if a bleed occurs, the bleeding can be controlled. Xarelto cannot be stopped until it is flushed entirely from the system, which can take days depending on the patient’s age. There’s simply nothing doctors can do to stop bleeding if a patient has been taking Xarelto.
Ashlie’s Bair Hugger Lawsuit
On November 12, 2015, Ashlie filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana. She claims that Xarelto caused the bleeding, which ultimately led to her grandmother’s death. She claims that Bayer, the manufacturer of Xarelto, created a dangerous drug and failed to adequately warn of the dangers of their drug. She is suing Bayer for: Construction or composition defect, Design defect, Inadequate warning, Breach of express warranty, Breach of implied warranty of merchantability and fitness, Redhibition, Breach of warranty of fitness for ordinary use
She is seeking $75,000 in damages from Bayer.Contact a Xarelto Attorney
If, like Ashlie’s grandmother, you or someone you love were harmed by the dangerous drug Xarelto, you could have a claim against Bayer. It’s time to stand up against the third largest pharmaceutical company in the U.S. and hold them accountable for their negligence and wrongdoing. Thousands of people across the United States have been negatively affected by Xarelto. Let your voice be heard.

Xarelto Lawsuit
The Gallagher Law Firm is currently involved with Xarelto lawsuits, the oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) drug which has been connected to serious bleeding events and internal bleeding leading to death in some patients.
Contact The Gallagher Law Firm online or call (713) 238-7705 if you think you or a relative may have suffered complications after taking Xarelto.
About Xarelto
Xarelto, the brand/generic name of the drug Rivaroxaban (BAY 59-7939), is an oral anticoagulant invented and manufactured by Bayer. It is the first available orally active direct factor Xa inhibitor. Xarelto is absorbed via the gut and maximum inhibition of factor Xa occurs four hours after a dose. The effects last approximately 8–12 hours, but factor Xa activity does not return to normal within 24 hours so once-daily dosing is possible.
Uses of Xarelto
Xarelto is used to prevent blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used to treat blood clots (such as in deep vein thrombosis-DVT or pulmonary embolus-PE) and to prevent the blood clots from forming again. Xarelto is an anticoagulant that works by blocking certain clotting proteins in your blood.
Xarelto Side Effects
The side effects of Xarelto may include:Internal Bleeding, Hemorrhage, Abnormal Liver Function Tests, Collection of Clotted Blood in an Organ, Space or Tissue, Feeling Faint, Arthritis, Backache, Indigestion, Itching, Low Energy, Muscle Spasm, Pain, Sinus Irritation and Congestion, Small Skin Blister, Throat Pain, Toothache, Upper Abdominal Pain, Urinary Tract Infection
Xarelto Lawsuits
Bayer and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. are facing several Xarelto lawsuits alleging that the drug is dangerous and defective. The plaintiffs claim that, unlike traditional anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin, Coumadin) whose blood-thinning effects can be reversed using vitamin K, there is no antidote available for Xarelto. Because of this, the lawsuits claim, doctors have no effective means of stopping Xarelto users from bleeding in the event of an emergency. Plaintiffs in the lawsuits allege serious and fatal injuries, including cerebral hemorrhaging and gastrointestinal bleeds, from use of the drug.

Louisiana Woman Dies Three Months After Taking Xarelto
Feb 25, 2016 | Xarelto Problems
The granddaughter of a Louisiana woman filed a wrongful death lawsuit accusing Xarelto manufacturers Bayer HealthCare and Johnson & Johnson of their failing to warn the public about the risks associated with the blood thinner. The plaintiff’s grandmother was prescribed Xarelto to treat a blood clot. Due to Xarelto’s failure to have a bleeding antidote, she developed unstoppable internal bleeding in her brain.
This lawsuit is one of approximately 2,500 filed against Xarelto’s manufacturers as part of a multidistrict litigation (“MDL”) in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Many plaintiffs in the MDL are represented by Grant & Eisenhofer, involved in the Bellwether Selection Committee and co-leading the Law & Briefing Committee of the Xarelto MDL. If you or a loved one experienced complications from taking the drug Xarelto, please call us at 888-207-0382 for a confidential evaluation of your potential claim.

More than 3000 Xarelto Lawsuits Filed
Feb 26, 2016 | St. Louis Personal Injury Attorneys
By Meyerkord & Meyerkord LLC
Just a few years after approval, there are currently more than 3,000 Xarelto lawsuits filed in the United States. The multidistrict lawsuit against Xarelto’s manufacturers, Bayer and Johnson & Johnson, add plaintiffs to the case every day. Many individuals have filed suit claiming Xarelto failed to adequately warn users of the risks associated with the medication, as well as failing to inform them of the lack of an antidote. These plaintiffs are fighting to hold Bayer and J & J responsible for their negligence while attempting to obtain compensation for their financial and non-economical damages.
In 2011, the blood thinner Xarelto was approved to prevent strokes in patients that suffer from atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. The drug has been praised for its convenience compared to older anticoagulants on the market. Coumadin, also generically known as Warfarin, requires users to receive regular blood tests and follow a restricted diet. Xarelto does not require any inconveniences; however, Bayer and J & J did not tell users that Xarelto does not have an antidote to reverse the effects of the drug in a bleeding episode. Many plaintiffs are claiming they suffered uncontrollable bleeding injuries or lost loved ones due to the inability to stop the bleeding.
If you or a loved one have suffered an injury or death due to using Xarelto, it is important to contact the St. Louis Xarelto attorneys at Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC. Our attorneys have handled thousands of drug liability cases and will fight aggressively to hold any manufacturer responsible for their negligence. We have years of experience with mass torts cases, cases involving several plaintiffs, and will successfully handle your case.
