Rough Transcript: johnson & johnson has been hit with a consumer protection lawsuit from thewashington state attorney general. the complaint: the company concealed the risk of 'surgical mesh' implants in women. the first-of-its-kind legal action in the country was quickly followed by california's attorney general. washington's suit alleges widespread deception. it accuses the health-care giant of mispresenting the problems and complications associated with the mesh-- which is used to treat various pelvic issues. a subsidiary of johnson & johnson-- which marketed the product-- issued a statement calling the suits "unjustified".near 12-thousand women here in washingtonhave had the mesh surgery. the state will seek a 2-thousand dollar civil violation for each case in addition to costs, fees and restitution.it's estimated that could add up to millions of dollars in penalties.
