A Tennessee woman has filed a talc-based powder exposure suit in federal court, accusing the Johnson & Johnson defendants of ignoring decades of medical research linking talcum powder to cancer.
Plaintiff Patricia Kuhn filed the complaint on July 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, contending that her “regular and prolonged” use of talcum powder caused her to develop ovarian cancer.
Kuhn explained in the complaint that she was born in 1944 and used the defendants’ Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower products for “nearly her entire life.”

Calif. Court Stays Talcum Powder Action Pending Determination of Coordination Petition

A California trial court has stayed proceedings in two talcum powder lawsuits pending determination of a coordination petition filed with the state’s Chair of the Judicial Council.
In the June 29 order, the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County signed off on an order that would “allow for more efficient management of the Included Actions.” All of the parties in the two cases stipulated to the stay.
The order was entered in a case filed by Adele Trent in Los Angeles County and in the Jara action, currently pending in San Bernardino County.
