ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri state court has denied Imerys Talc America Inc.’s motion to dismiss a multi-plaintiff talcum powder lawsuit for lack of personal jurisdiction and Johnson & Johnson defendants’ efforts to dismiss or, alternatively, sever and transfer venue.
The Missouri 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for St. Louis City indicated its denial of the motions in a July 20 docket entry.
The underlying case was filed by a number of plaintiffs, who alleged that they developed ovarian cancer as a result of exposure to talcum powder products –– including Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower –– manufactured by ...

LOS ANGELES –– Another multi-plaintiff lawsuit has been filed in California state court accusing Johnson & Johnson defendants of withholding information regarding the dangers of talcum powder in its popular Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower products.
In their July 15 complaint filed in the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County, the plaintiffs said their claims arise out of the same transaction, occurrence, or series of transactions or occurrences “and questions of law and fact are common to all of the plaintiffs will arise in the action.”
