Specifics on the Hershey Trust's plans for a mixed-use neighborhood development on 230 acres near the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will be made public in mid-July.
The Hershey Trust Co. shared some plans for the project – expected to include a mix of residential, retail, entertainment, hotel and office space – in May, according to PennLive.com.
On July 10, neighbors are invited to attend a community meeting to learn more about the development, known as Hershey West End.
Bounded by Route 322 and Bullfrog Valley, Wood and Waltonville roads, PennLive.com said, open space would be part of the project.
According to the flyer announcing the meeting, about 50 percent of the land will be used as open or public spaces.
"An early phase of the development is expected to include medical offices, expansion of U-Gro, and conversion of the existing barn to an entertainment venue called, The Englewood," the flyer states."Future phases could include rental flats, dining, retail, a natural grocer, and housing," it added.
The Trust owns Hershey Entertainment & Resorts and also has a controlling interest in The Hershey Company, and oversees the multi-billion dollar endowment of the private, boarding school for low-income children, the Milton Hershey School.
