Suntech Announces Mr. (Victor) Haibo Xiong as President

Wuxi Suntech Power Co., Ltd announced that it has appointed Mr. (Victor) Haibo Xiong as President of Suntech, where he will be fully responsible for the management of the company. Mr. Xiong took the position after serving in various roles in the company for the past 10 years. Mr. Xiong brings a strong background and diverse experience in the solar industry value chain, successively serving as top management of Suntech and its affiliated companies.
"Mr. Xiong has shown strong leadership in his roles at Suntech and I think his management expertise will be a great asset as we look to grow our company," said Eric Luo, CEO of Shunfeng International Clean Energy Limited, who oversees Suntech's international operations. "When we acquired Suntech, we knew it had the best PV modules in the industry. With Mr. Xiong's leadership, we believe that the company will help drive our vision of becoming the largest integrated clean energy provider globally."

Suntech was recently re-added to Bloomberg New Energy Finance's (BNEF) February 2015 Global PV Market Outlook's tier 1 solar company list based on its bankability. The tier 1 list consists of module manufacturers who have provided their own manufactured products to five different projects, which have been financed non-recourse by five different non-development banks, in the past two years.

Shunfeng International Clean Energy has selected Haibo Xiong as Wuxi Suntech’s new president, after Eric Luo had led the company and was recently appointed CEO of Shunfeng.
Haibo (Victor) Xiong had been at Wuxi Suntech for 10 years, joining in February 2005 as the manager of Product Development Department, rising to general manager of Wuxi Suntech in 2012 and responsible for cell and module operations at plants in Shanghai and Luoyang.
"Mr. Xiong has shown strong leadership in his roles at Suntech and I think his management expertise will be a great asset as we look to grow our company," said Eric Luo, CEO of Shunfeng International Clean Energy. “With Mr. Xiong's leadership, we believe that the company will help drive our vision of becoming the largest integrated clean energy provider globally."

Wuxi Suntech Power has chosen Victor Haibo Xiong to serve as its new president, roughly a month and a half after parent Shunfeng poached former Suntech chief executive Eric Luo to lead its own operations.
Xiong — a 10-year veteran of Suntech who the company credits for his “diverse experience in the solar industry value chain” — will now oversee management of the company.
In early 2014, Shunfeng acquired Wuxi Suntech — the old production unit of former PV powerhouse Suntech, which plunged into insolvency in 2013 after defaulting on its bonds — for 3bn yuan ($480m).
In late December, Luo replaced former Shunfeng chief executive and current chairman Zhang Yi.
Shunfeng – which changed its name to Shunfeng International Clean Energy last August – has invested in other troubled solar companies, including Germany’s Solarstrom.
It aims to connect 10GW to the grid of PV by late 2016.
And last week, Shunfeng made its first foray into the wind market by investing 442.7m yuan ($71m) to acquire a 723MW portfolio spread across eight locations in China's Jilin and Hebei provinces.
