A teaching assistant who lost her job after giving an interview to a magazine about having vaginal rejuvenation is calling for the procedure to be offered on the NHS.
Kim Hanson, 37, from Runcorn, Cheshire, appeared in Closer in January, detailing how she underwent the £500 Nu-V treatment at The Women's Health Clinic to tighten the inside and outside of the vagina.
In the article entitled 'I dumped my husband and got a designer vagina' she revealed the treatment had cured her stress incontinence and boosted her sex life, which is now 'amazing'.
Ms Hanson, who was a teaching assistant for Years 4 and 5, was suspended for her job before subsequently losing it.
However the mother-of-four, whose sister carried out the treatment, insists she doesn't regret speaking out because she can now campaign on behalf of other women who can't afford to pay for the procedure privately.
She said: 'Before the procedure, my everyday life was affected, I used to change my knickers three times a day and felt like I constantly needed to shower, it put me off going anywhere too far from home.
'My sister, who is a nurse, told me about it otherwise I may never have known. I think the procedure should be offered on the NHS.'
Celebrities including Danielle Lloyd have also previously spoken out about their own experiences of incontinence caused by child birth.
