Mar 31, 2015 | See News Renewables
By Militsa Mancheva
China-based Shunfeng International Clean Energy Ltd (HKG:1165) said Monday it has agreed to develop the first green energy application demonstration project in Jiangsu province’s city of Changzhou.
Shunfeng International, known as Shunfeng Photovoltaic International until recently, has signed a pact for the project with the Changzhou municipal government.
According to the strategic cooperation framework agreement, the Wujin Green Building Industry Cluster Demonstration Zone will serve as a pilot project, which will exhibit the various applications of green energy in Changzhou. To that end, the area will be equipped with solar arrays, municipal and community lighting, central heating and refrigeration, 100%-electric public transport, charging facilities for electric cars and an intelligent energy management system.
Upon completion of the project, the zone is expected to hit energy savings of over 50%, Shunfeng calculates. This is the company’s first deal for a green energy saving model city, it noted.

Shunfeng Reports 275.6% Increase In Revenue In 2014, Following Acquisition Of Wuxi Suntech
Mar 31, 2015 | Clean Technica
By James Ayre
The clean energy company Shunfeng International Clean Energy experienced an increase in reported revenue of 275.6% in 2014, following on the heels of the the company’s acquisition and integration of the photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing giant Wuxi Suntech (April 2014).
That increase in revenue was accounted for by Shunfeng’s reported full year revenue of RMB 5,745.9 million ($926.6 million) in 2014, as compared to ($246 million) in 2013.
Perhaps more importantly, the company returned to profitability — and posted a net profit of RMB 1,304 million ($210.259 million). This compares against a net loss in 2013 of around $292.6 million. The company’s gross profit margin also increased notably, up to 22.1%, as compared against 9.9% in 2013.
Shunfeng International Clean Energy’s reported solar product segment (solar cells, modules, wafers, etc) sales rose around 159.7% last year — up to a total reported figure of 3,238.5 megawatts (MW) worth. 1,094.7 MW worth of these sales were inter-group ones.
The sales volumes (of solar cells + modules) under its manufacturing business totaled around 1,525.5 MW — representing an increase of around 217.5% from 2013, which saw a sales volume of 480.5 MW.
The company reported wafer sales of 66.9 MW — up from, effectively, 0 MW in 2013 — altogether generating roughly $123.7 million in reported revenue. The company reported monocrystalline solar cell sales of 143.7 MW in 2014 — altogether generating roughly $56.44 million in reported revenue. Reported sales of multicrystalline solar cells totaled 669.8 MW — generating roughly $219.5 million in revenue. And reported PV modules sales totalled 645.1 MW — bringing in $391.5 million in revenue.
The combined sales of PV modules, solar cells, and wafers totaled roughly ~$791 million (~RMB 4,920 million) in revenue for the year.
Product sales within China accounted for much of total revenue, 73.9% to be exact. That’s down from 84.8% in 2013 — meaning that reach into international markets has grown since then.

Suntech opens warehouse in Cape Town
Mar 31, 2015 | IT Online
Wuxi Suntech Power has officially announced the establishment of a local warehouse in Cape Town, South Africa.
This new facility will initially store 500kW of modules and will expand its storage capacity to 1MW later in 2015. Suntech established a full time presence in South Africa in 2014 as part of its expansion efforts in the region.“The opening of a local warehouse in Cape Town will allow Suntech to increase its sales capacity in South Africa, and in the South African Development Community, which serves as a free trade zone. We are also eliminating the effort involved in the PV modules shipping and importation procedure, which will help our customers to better plan their project schedules,” says Joey Zheng, regional director to Suntech’s Africa and South Asia markets.
“With a growing number of sales to larger scale projects, we will now be able to assure that all of our customers will have their products within 24 hours after purchase, whereas previously it took 40 days for modules to be delivered from China,” Zheng adds.
Recently, Suntech supplied 100 MW of its high-efficiency PV modules to two projects selected during the Department of Energy’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program’s (REIPPPP) first bid round.
“Under the ownership of Shunfeng Clean Energy (SFCE), Suntech has the strongest balance sheet in the industry and was recently added to Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s (BNEF) Tier 1 solar company list,” says Victor Xiong, president of Wuxi Suntech.
“We are now part of the largest integrated clean energy generation company in the world. I am confident that our partners and customers will see how our clean energy ecosystem brings value to solar energy development, which is especially relevant in supporting the growing electricity needs in South Africa and in the wider region,” he adds.
Suntech will be present at Power & Electricity World Africa 2015 in Johannesburg from March 24 to 25, 2015. The team will be exhibiting the following products: a solar home system, which is an all-inclusive DC power system, the STP265-20/Wem and STP315-24/Vem modules for on grid systems, and the STP140D-12/TEA and STP085D-12/BEA modules for off-grid systems.
