China-based Shunfeng International Clean Energy Ltd (HKG:1165) said Wednesday it has agreed to develop solar photovoltaic (PV) and other clean energy projects in French Polynesia.
The planned capacity of the solar parks was not specified.
Shunfeng International, known as Shunfeng Photovoltaic International until recently, has signed a cooperation agreement with the local government for the projects. Apart from solar power deployment, the contract also covers other large-scale integrated solutions such as energy generation and management systems, power storage, light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, ground source heat pump systems, as well as ion air battery technology and electric vehicles, according to a press release.
“By promoting comprehensive, low-carbon, energy-saving solutions for large-scale public facilities, SFCE will be able to speed up the adoption of an accessible and affordable clean energy infrastructure,” CEO Eric Luo noted. The move is an important step towards preserving the ecosystem of the island, he added.
French Polynesia is the first country in the South Pacific region to engage in facilitating a sustainable environment for its citizens, Shunfeng International mentioned.
